Year of Doing

"Say your name is Samantha Smith,"  she whispered eagerly in my ear, almost maniacally. The  name was completely random. Had someone even asked my name? I glanced across the table, into expecting eyes.  "Samantha Smith," I repeated in a voice that wasn't mine; a level of crazed-confidence that must have belonged to this new persona.  "Esquire," she added over my shoulder.  "Samantha Smith, Esquire," I repeated and we shook hands.  

And so, Samantha Smith was born that night.  It's a bit of a character-duality, it's true, but sometimes you want a little bit of anonymity.  Or sometimes it's just fun to reinvent yourself, blank canvas style.   

At some point, in the wee months of 2013 a very wise friend of mine declared that 2013 was the 'Year of Decision.'  It, like my pseudonym, became a title we used often.  Now, as 2014 is still in its infancy, I have decided to name it the 'Year of Doing.'  Decisions made, it's time to act.  

So, when this same clever little friend of mine asked how my blog was coming (with, I might add, only a touch of Stewie asking Bryan how his novel is coming) I found it was only too fitting to begin.  Year of Doing.  

And there is a lot to do this year! As I flesh out this new platform, I will be decorating my house, getting married (!!), planning my biggest trip yet, searching for jobs (real, physical, put-on-a-suit-sit-at-a-desk type job, not just the online store that I have in the works), and exploring my amazing little town.  

I'm excited, are you excited?  Year of Doing.  It's going to be great.
